​​​​How does Breathwork create emotional healing?

 

Emotional Release

Many of us are not free in the personal expression of our feelings and emotions. We have been taught to suppress and keep them locked up inside, especially feelings we may have negative judgements about, such as sadness, anger and fear.  We can also be challenged to release these feelings in healthy and healing ways that can promote personal power, effective interactions and peace. Often, it can feel as though the harder we suppress our emotions, the harder they pursue us.  

 

Research is now showing us that our breath and emotions are inexplicably linked. The liberation of the breath is also liberation of our emotions. Connected breathing gives an opportunity to develop and experience emotional freedom in a safe, gentle and supportive environment. It will feel as though the weight of the world is lifted from your shoulders and you can experience peace, love, joy, passion and freedom to be who you were made to be.

Renewed Decision Making Ability

When we release suppressed emotions, we become aware of limiting decisions we have made about ourselves, other people and life. These decisions are based on our internal belief systems that we may not have been aware of but are at the core of everything we do. When we are aware of negative decisions and releasing the emotional charge behind them, we have the power to make new, life changing decisions. The result will be new beliefs, thoughts and actions!

Deeper Connections

The connected breathing process often leads to a deep connection with the very core of our being. We then develop a greater understanding of ourselves, our purpose in life and our place in the world on a deeper level.

 

What Happens in Breathwork Sessions?

Sessions run for approximately 50 minutes. They are designed to relax and calm you in a safe and supported environment that you are comfortable in. You will be seated comfortably as your breath is guided back to a relaxed, rhythmic, flowing and open natural state. This increases the amount of energy in the body and promotes the integration of your physical, mental and emotional states of being.

In this gentle and supportive environment there is an opportunity to access repressed emotions, release emotional and mental stress, open your heart and gain valuable insights. Be prepared as significant events from your life may surface throughout the session. These may be current events or events that happened during childhood. Nothing is ever forced and whatever surfaces, does so organically through the breathing process. We trust that whatever surfaces is what most needs to be cleared for a particular person at that time in their life.

It can feel as though events are unfolding like watching a movie. As the event unfolds you reconnect with the thoughts you were thinking and the emotions you were feeling at the time. You will then have an opportunity to complete the experience. All sessions are different in their expression. Some sessions are more vocal and cathartic. Other sessions are quiet and peaceful and are just as effective for making changes in our lives.

When the event is reviewed, you will often gain valuable insights into your life. During significant life experiences we often draw conclusions to help us make sense of the experience. As we breathe these conclusions become consciously recognised. Once recognised you now have the choice to reconsider the decision with an adults fuller understanding of the situation.

 

After a session people often describe feeling lightness, freedom and relief, like dropping a heavy load, a load that they have been carrying for a long time.​​​​​​
